MV Agusta has added a newcomer to the stable to comply with Euro5 emissions regulations. Enter the 2021 F3 800 Rosso – which features minor updates to the engine and frame while the biggest revisions are saved for the electronics department.
This machine is billed as an entry-level supersport making it the most affordable sports bike from the rather pricey Italian brand. The base platform of the F3 remains unchanged, still powered by a 798 cc, inline three-cylinder engine with a counter rotating crankshaft. Interestingly though, the F3 800 Rosso doesn’t give away any power to the premium models in the range. The engine delivers 147 bhp at 13,000 rpm, while peak torque is 65 lb-ft at 10,100 rpm. A new clutch basket and improved up and down quickshifter is said to offer even faster shifts, according to MV.
The updates to the frame include new frameplates and a redesigned swingarm pivot for increased stiffness. The big change comes with the electronics, which are all controlled through a new 5.5″ full-colour TFT dash, which has smartphone connectivity, music, and sat nav.
The new IMU allows for features such as cornering ABS, lean sensitive traction control and wheelie control. MV have also taken the opportunity to add useful features like cruise control and racy features like launch control.
MSRP in Italy is £14,780, which is little more expensive than the old F3 but it comes with more features and gadgets. No word on when it will arrive in the USA.
