New electric motorcycles are beginning to pop up seemingly by the day. EV tech is a big deal for the transportation industry, and motorcycles are no different. However, like a lot of new technology, many electric bikes are still expensive. The Harley-Davidson LiveWire starts just under $30,000, and even Zero’s budget minded FXS starts at $9,295.
Evoke Motorcycles is a Beijing-based manufacturer with a more reasonably priced lineup. Their base model Urban S starts at only $7,999. The Urban manages 125 miles of range with a top speed of 81mph. Charge time is a total of 3 hours, and peak output is 25 horsepower. Though the figures aren’t massive, the Urban is plenty capable of daily commutes.
Want more power from your EV? Evoke’s 6061 packs 160 horsepower and an impressive 290 mile range. Evoke’s flagship “power cruiser” can deal with charging in as little as 15 minutes using a DC fast charger. Top speed is limited to a reasonable 140mph. Granted, the extra power comes at a price, $24,999 to be exact. That being said, the 6061 is still a bargain compared to many of its rivals.
Part of what helps reduce the pricing of Evoke’s motorcycles is the simplified nature of their machines. Evoke CEO Nathan Siy says, “We’re still working on stuff like traction control so its real pure essence…battery, motor, powertrain, ECU, that’s it.” Though the powertrain is pure essentials, the 6061 comes with an HD 7″ TFT, 3-way adjustable front and rear suspension, and an aluminum frame.
Evoke has another new bike on the way as well. The upcoming “Gemini” will use a two speed automatic transmission to achieve 100 horsepower and 178 miles of range. Better yet, the Gemini starts at only $7,999. Evoke sells their motorcycles all over the world, including the United States. If you decide to buy an Evoke motorcycle, they will ship the bike directly to your home.
