Toby Price scored his second stage win of the 2021 Dakar Rally on Tuesday’s third stage, as American privateer Skyler Howes took the lead in the overall classification. The super talented Howes, who had started into the day eighth overall, finished the day 4th and now holds a slender lead of 33 seconds over Honda’s Kevin Benavides at the head of the general classification.
Being the first rider to start a stage in Dakar has it drawbacks as Ricky Brabec found out on Stage 1. Then Toby Price of KTM suffered the same fate on Stage 2, getting lost and losing his lead with a 30m min foray into the wilderness. This left Honda’s Joan Barreda with a landmark 25th Dakar Rally stage victory on Stage 2 to inherit the overall lead of the event. Price’s win today is his second of the event, leaving KTM in the hunt.
