It seems that despite the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, American Honda rider Ricky Brabec will get to his defend his Dakar Rally title in January next year.
According to Dakar Rally Race Director – David Castera – over the last few months, the Dakar family has also been tried and tested and found to be ‘true to its spirit’. As a result some 300 vehicles will line-up for the start of the 43rd edition of the event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from January 3 – 15, 2021. So far 108 motorcycles will line up at the start with Honda ace Ricky Brabec starting as the No 1 ranked rider.
The years route, being held for the second time in the Saudi Kingdom, offers racers a grueling 4,700 mile route which includes 2,900 miles of special stages. According to the organizers the 2021 course features all-new special stages and will reduce the length and amount of fast sections, while emphasizing riding technique, as well as crossing and navigation skills.
